Entry requirements
Being a Postgraduate Engineer at the Dyson Institute is academically, personally and professionally demanding. To be selected for the programme, we require you to be academically strong, passionate about technology and software development, and able to demonstrate that you can cope with the professional demands that come with being a Dyson Engineer, alongside studying.
Applicants must be predicted, or have graduated with, a 2:1 honours degree or above (or international equivalent) to evidence their aptitude for academic study.
Applicants must not have significant prior learning, professional qualification or a degree-level qualification in Computer Science or closely related subjects. The course content is designed for individuals without any formal training or education in Software Development/Computer Science.

We are looking for evidence that you have a strong interest in technology and software development. Also, you are excited by the integration between software development and product development and have a desire to pursue a software engineering career at Dyson.

You will need to demonstrate a strong desire to know or learn how things work and be passionate about finding solutions to problems. You'll also need to be willing to ask questions and challenge when required.

Working whilst studying at master's level in a new field will be challenging. We want you to show that you understand what it would be like to balance this and manage your time between studying and starting your professional career.

You can evidence that you’re eager to learn new things and be proactive in doing so, applying what you've learnt to real life situations.

You will need to demonstrate an understanding of software and basic programming ability.

You will need to demonstrate your ability to communicate in a clear and effective way with a diverse range of people.

Dyson is a team-based environment and strong collaboration is important. You will need to evidence strong team-working skills.

Working and studying is challenging – it requires a proactive approach to keep on track. This can also be applied to solving problems and Dyson’s value of ‘Never give up’.

All programmes at the Dyson Institute are delivered in English. If you haven't completed your secondary education in English, you must be able to evidence that your ability to understand and to express yourself in English (including in reading, writing, speaking and listening) is sufficient to enable you to achieve full benefit from your studies at the Dyson Institute and succeed in an international working environment at Dyson Technology, where the business language is English.
